Don’t know how to make a smoothie bowl? Here are three quick steps to becoming a smoothie bowl master!
Blend Your Base
Start with fruit! Bananas are probably the best option to start with, mainly because they provide a smooth base for other fruit to bind with. If you want a berry bowl, add frozen strawberries, cherries, blueberries, raspberries, acaí, etc. A mango bowl calls for frozen mango, and so on and so forth. Once you’ve selected your fruit, add almond milk. Then, throw in dry ingredients like chia seeds, hemp seeds, cacao powder or nibs, coconut flakes, and protein powder. Lastly, blend until smooth! Mind you, the consistency should be thick, so make sure not to go overboard with the almond milk.
Pour It Into A Bowl
This step is self-explanatory but integral for aesthetics. I find eating a smoothie bowl with a spoon as opposed to drinking it makes my mornings a bit more exciting.
Go Crazy On The Toppings
If you want a beautiful mandala-esque bowl, make sure you have toppings that come in a combination of textures. In this case, I’m using cacao nibs, coconut shreds, and Trader Joe’s Super Seed & Ancient Grain Blend (hemp, buckwheat, amaranth, flax). Although I didn’t add any to this bowl, frozen or freshly cut fruit on top is a great colorful addition: sliced bananas, strawberries, frozen blueberries, passionfruit).
